Situated in Sandsend, one of the most picturesque villages and a true hidden gem of the Yorkshire coast, Estbek house is an award winning and critically acclaimed restaurant with rooms.

Estbek - often misspelt as ‘Estbeck’ or ‘Eskbeck’ - is a Georgian property, built circa 1750 and previously housing the Alum mining office. We aim to emphasise this incomparable charm of the historic building, with a tasteful touch of modern luxury throughout.

THE ESTBEK VISION

When we moved into Estbek we had one ambition: "to create somewhere we would like to eat and stay". That has remained our goal; always developing, always moving forward. We strive to ensure guests are offered a uniquely and caring restaurant experience, where the natural flavours of our ingredients are allowed to shine through, only pairing them with complimentary ingredients. Food without the complications of too many flavours often seen as 'en-vogue' for restaurants. A firework show of flavour on the plate may be dazzling but so is that lone wild spring flower.

We aim to balance our menu with a unique Antipodean wine list, matching flavours from our dishes with some of the finest wines that can be found.

We are also proud to work with many wineries bringing what is a carefully selected list to Estbek.

Here at Estbek we strive for excellence, with continuous improvement and customer satisfaction at the forefront of our vision. We are proud holders of two coveted AA Rosettes for our restaurant, recognising culinary excellence, and have been awarded a certificate by the AA for a high-quality, locally sourced breakfast

Our accommodation is rated in the 'Restaurant with Rooms' category as ‘Highly commended’ four stars, scoring 84%. In 2017, we proudly accepted a White Rose Award in the ‘Inns and Restaurants with Rooms’ category.
